The world outside can be
frightfully garish,
Can turn pleasant dreams
into something nightmarish,
I eventually waken
and find that you’re there,
Sometimes I’ve no words;
sometimes I stare.
But when I’m asleep
or when I’m contrite,
Or when I am haunted
and timing’s not right,
Just know that our love
is never a curse,
We’re practically married,
For better or worse,
In sickness and health,
Through good times and bad,
Just know that I love you
even when we are sad.
