Bemusement

make the muse leave
return here tomorrow
sleep beneath seas
or on Kilimanjaro
sleep among stars
or men who are nude
don’t let the muse
prevent or intrude
into what gives you strength
and what calms your screams
your muse will return
inspired by dreams

Others Required

Afraid of desire
admitted and costly,

Albeit in whispers
of words spoken softly,

Enacted in moments
of uncertain pleasure,

Confused by reactions
of others unfettered,

By reason or choice
by manipulation,

To play the long game
I must not be impatient,

Yet I want it all
and I want it all now,

I must lay claim
to all I’ve disavowed.

Busy

In dreams we’re together
in all ways imagined…

A still life that’s painted
in all shades of passion…

When awake we are separate
and it’s not enough…

Unable to talk, to touch
or to fuck…

We share the same space
yet we aren’t complete…

And we cling to each other
at night when we sleep.

For Aaron

Jennifer’s Birthday

When I met her: CONNECTION
and desperate to know her,

Began with a dance
although I was unsure
that all that I wanted
was right or was natural…

It felt like the truth
but wasn’t quite factual,

It wasn’t quite candid
and yet it was honest,

Can’t be admonished
for loving a Goddess,

Not quite confusion;
more a puzzle unsolved,

Perhaps it was foolish
and should not be absolved,

Yet we were as children
in a world without structure,

Decades of growth
and change in our culture,

Time heals all wounds
and while we’ve matured…

Twenty-two years
and I’m still writing for her.

For Jennifer

Seventh Drowning

Don’t stop for strangers;
they’re likely fish women,

The sex and the dangers
are strictly forbidden,

The songs and the smells
lead always to madness,

And she that was wanted
will leave your soul haunted…

Will leave and then cleave you in two
through your sadness.

Explosive Attraction

Reduced to a shadow
in land filled with monsters,

Waiting in lines
snorted daily by bombers,

Who burn as they smile
for virgins expected,

A practice for final
performance reflected,

In eyes of those monsters
who actually greet them,

They don’t know the horrors
that rush up to meet them.

Jam

Words slip and powder
the life behind left me,

Blood staining snow
as my essence is set free,

The stories unplanned
as they rush to the pages,

Lyrics of carols
unbound here in stages,

Which might not be perfect
but what truly is?

We do what we can
when we seek to exist.

The Aarons

Waiting an hour
for line to die down,

Waiting for queens
to swallow my crown,

Nervous awareness
of people beside me,

The Aarons are rude
and can’t be inside me,

The Aarons are restless
inside of my pants,

The Aarons are separate
in this circumstance,

Each Aaron’s schedule
is packed and excited,

Yet sadly their plans
may keep us divided.

For Aaron and Aaron.

Player

I haven’t heard
this music in ages,

Danced San Francisco
with Breakfast in Vegas,

Down underground
& you only live twice,

On New York play list
my life has been spliced.

Over the ground
it’s westward I’m stabbing,

Pimping my sneakers
which aren’t quite worth having,

Ditching the songs
in hope of return,

Lighting my way
with dead stars that burn.

Train Robbery

Dancing ecstatic
on a Barrel of a Gun
until mariachi band boards the train
and hideous smelling woman’s back fat
covered in deceptive pink
is pressed between slats to assault,
scar, wound and torment
my once focused psyche.

Pig thing whines and runs
as NIN sings
about Year Zero.

Thank Trent! (with a silent Capital G)
