*Episodes 7 & 8 each feature a credit scene.
**Episode 9 features 2 credit scenes.

The first 3 credit scenes are set during or just after the series (in late 2023) but the final credit scene seems to be set during the events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in late 2024.

This series plays off events in several previous multiverse stories, including several X-Men films (“Days of Future Past”, “Apocalypse”, “Dark Phoenix” & “Deadpool 2”) + Season 4 of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and the “Runaways” series. “WandaVision” also helps to set up events in “Spider-Man: Far From Home”, “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”, “Secret Invasion”, “The Marvels”, “Agatha All Along”, “What If…?” / “Marvel Zombies”, “VisionQuest” & will likely affect “Avengers: Doomsday” & “Avengers: Secret Wars”.

The Marvel Studios: Assembled series goes behind-the-scenes of a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Disney+ series or film with the creatives, exploring the process of creating each series or film.

This episode can be found HERE.

This installment goes behind the scenes of the making of WandaVision, with head writer Jac Schaeffer, series director Matt Shakman, stars Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Debra Jo Rupp, Kathryn Hahn, Teyonah Parris, Randall Park, Kat Dennings, and Evan Peters, theme song composers Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, and additional creatives. Discussion includes the classic sitcoms that inspired the series, how the crew emulated the production processes of early sitcoms, and the experience of filming in front of a live studio audience for the first episode, “Filmed Before a Live Studio Audience”.

This film is available on Disney+ and can be found HERE.

Set less than 6 years after “Avengers: Infinity War” and also after the events of “Avengers: Endgame”. This film was intended to set up several films but the sequels were cancelled due to low box office. Despite the cancelled sequels, the events of this film are later followed up on in “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” (briefly), various installments of “What If…?” & “Marvel Zombies” and then more significantly in “Captain America: Brave New World”.

The special goes behind the scenes of the making of Eternals with director Chloé Zhao, several producers, and the cast members Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Angelina Jolie, Lauren Ridloff, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Salma Hayek, and Kit Harington. Discussion includes the set design, the costume design, the difficulties and benefits of shooting on location, and the diversity of the cast.

The series sets up several future projects, including: “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, “What If…?” / “Marvel Zombies”, “Captain America: Brave New World”, “Thunderbolts*”, “Avengers: Doomsday” & “Avengers: Secret Wars”.

Marvel Studios: Assembled S01E02 The Making of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier can be found HERE.

This installment l goes behind the scenes of the making of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”, with head writer Malcolm Spellman, series director Kari Skogland, stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Erin Kellyman, Don Cheadle, Daniel Brühl, Emily VanCamp, Florence Kasumba, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Clé Bennett, executive producer Nate Moore, and additional creatives. Discussion includes the importance of exploring racism within the narrative, as well as the series’ action scenes and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the production of the series.

This film is available on Disney+ and can be found HERE.

Set mainly in the mainline 616 / Earth-199999 during summer of 2024.

The film helps set up several future projects, including “Venom: Let There Be Carnage”, “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, “Secret Invasion”, “The Marvels” and “What If…?” / “Marvel Zombies”.

This film is available on Disney+ and can be found HERE.

This film is mainly set on Earth-688.

Set about a year after “Venom”, a credit scene is set during “Spider-Man: No Way Home” – but should be viewed before it, as one of the credit scenes in that movie continues the storyline.

Marvel Studios: Legends S01E15 – S01E16 (April 29, 2022)

These installments were released to promote “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”, but since they couldn’t use footage from “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (because it is a Sony film and they lacked the rights at the time), these actually work as a promotional tool for the 3 Tom Holland solo Spider-Man entry.

Marvel Studios: Legends S01E15 Doctor Strange can be found HERE.
Marvel Studios: Legends S01E16 Wong can be found HERE.

This film is not currently available on Disney+ (though I’ve heard it will be very soon, possibly before you make it to this point), but it is available for purchase from Amazon Prime and they carry an extended cut of the film which can be found HERE.

Set on Earth-688, this film seems to pick up directly after the credit scenes in “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” & “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, in 2024.

This film is available on Netflix and can be viewed HERE.

Set on Earth-688, this needs to be viewed sometime after “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” as it references events from that film. This movie also introduces Sony’s version of Dmitri / The Chameleon, who is later referenced in a Daily Bugle headline in “Morbius”.

This film is available on Disney+ and can be found HERE.

Set on Earth-688, after the Kraven and Venom films, both of which are referenced here. Some may presume that the credit scenes tie into “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, despite that not making any sense – which angered many fans. However, I actually think this ties more into the Spider-Verse films as implied in “Across the Spider-Verse” – and that film IS set after “Spider-Man: No Way Home” so it seemed like a good idea to place this here.

I mean, the credit scenes feature a universe displaced Vulture. We see another universe displaced Vulture in “Across the Spider-Verse” which we know is set after “No Way Home” because the events of “No Way Home” are referenced in “Across the Spider-Verse”.

This film is available on Disney+ and can be found HERE.

The events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” are mentioned and there are sly references to the fallout from “Morbius” + references to many other stories, including “Spider-Man: Homecoming”, “Venom”, and both the Raimi & Webb Spider-Man films.

This film sets up an as yet unreleased third film in the Spider-Verse Trilogy, “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” (coming in 2027).

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse begins immediately after the events of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) and wraps up the Spider-Verse trilogy of theatrical films. Other spin-offs are being developed.

Marvel Studios: Legends S01E17 Scarlet Witch can be found HERE.

This film is available on Disney+ and can be found HERE.

Follows up on “WandaVision” & “Spider-Man: No Way Home” but is set during a time jump in the latter film (before the December events). The film informs events in “Deadpool & Wolverine” and helps to set up events in “Agatha All Along”, “What If…?” / “Marvel Zombies”, “VisionQuest”, “Avengers: Doomsday” & “Avengers: Secret Wars”.

Marvel Studios: Assembled S01E10 The Making of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness can be found HERE.

This installment goes behind the scenes of the making of “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” with director Sam Raimi, writer Michael Waldron, several producers, and the cast members Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Xochitl Gomez, and Bruce Campbell. Discussion includes continuing Stephen Strange’s story post-Endgame, the set design, introducing the multiverse, America Chavez and the Illuminati, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the writing and production of the film.

This film is available on Disney+ and can be found HERE.

The main timeline for Deadpool is set in 2024 and features a visual cue from “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”. The main X-Men universe is being set up for something. X-Men were previously featured in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”.

Crosses over the X-Men universe with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This will be important in “Avengers: Doomsday”.

Marvel Studios: Assembled S02E08 The Making of Deadpool & Wolverine can be seen HERE.

The special goes behind the scenes of the making of Deadpool & Wolverine, with director Shawn Levy, cast members Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, and Matthew Macfadyen, and additional creatives.

Marvel Studios: Legends S01E09 Black Widow can be found HERE.
Marvel Studios: Legends S01E14 Hawkeye can be found HERE.

These episodes fill in the backstory for Natasha and Clint. The first installment was released as a prequel to “Black Widow” but watching this before that movie when viewing the films in chronological order (rather than release date order) is filled with huge spoilers for “Infinity War” & “Endgame”. But watching them before the “Hawkeye” series is a good place to reflect on the history of Natasha and Clint as both are relevant in his series.

The Hawkeye miniseries is available on Disney+ and can be found HERE.

Set in December of 2024. This series sets up several future projects, including “Echo”, “The Marvels”, “What If…” / “Marvel Zombies”, “Daredevil: Born Again” & “Thunderbolts*”. The story here deals with the aftermath of Barton having become Ronan during the Blip, and the physical, emotional and psychological toll being an Avenger (and the death of Natasha) has taken on Clint.

Marvel Studios: Assembled S01E04 The Making of Black Widow can be found HERE.

The Making of Black Widow features spoilers for Infinity War and Endgame so can’t be viewed where the film takes place, in 2016. Additionally, the Nat & Clint projects are linked, just as the characters always had been, so keeping them together here seemed to make sense to me.

This series (“What If…?” & its spin-off, “Marvel Zombies”) explores the multiverse by asking what if something changed about the movies and series released up to this point. The first season focuses on only the Infinity Saga films but Seasons 2 & 3 (and “Marvel Zombies”) also feature characters and events from the Multiverse Saga up to this point. Though animated, the series plays off the continuity of the live action films and series and features more than 60 actors returning to voice their characters. And although the tales being told seem to be random, eventually a story arc emerges. Here the episodes are placed in chronological order by the time & setting of each story (more or less) until the storylines merge and start a continuing arc across various timelines, which for me is the most satisfying order.

There are 3 Marvel Studios: Legends installments included to remind fans of certain events pertaining to different episodes, all of which were released on August 4, 2021.

Captain America: Brave New World (February 14, 2025)

This film is available on Disney+ and can be found HERE.

The film takes place between April 16 & May 24 of 2027.

Thaddeus Ross has been recast due to the death of William Hurt, who played the character in “The Incredible Hulk” (2008), “Captain America: Civil War” (2016), “Black Widow” (2021), “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018) and “Avengers: Endgame” (2019); Harrison Ford plays the character here.

The Punisher: One Last Kill (May 12, 2026)

Set during summer of 2027.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps (July 25, 2025)

This film is available on Disney+ and can be found HERE.

The movie is set in an alternate universe (Earth-828) and covers several years. This iteration of the Fantastic Four is new but various alternate universe versions have been seen in “Fantastic Four” (2005), “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” (2007), “Fantastic Four” (2015), “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” (2022) & “Deadpool & Wolverine” (2024).

The mid-credit scene sets up a credit scene in “Thunderbolts*” (which was released first) and all the main characters of this film will return in “Avengers: Doomsday (in December of 2026).

There will be a Season 3, which will be released in March of 2027.

Thunderbolts* (May 2, 2025)

This film is available on Disney+ and can be found HERE.

The film seems to be set in 2027, after the events of “Daredevil: Born Again Season 1”, “Captain America: Brave New World”, “The Punisher: One Last Kill”, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” and “Daredevil: Born Again Season 2” – we won’t know this for sure until “Avengers: Doomsday” reveals when it is set – as Thunderbolts is set 14 months before that film, as revealed in a credit scene, but for now, I’m placing it here. The post-credit scene is set 14 months later, in 2028. Having the multiple projects between Cap 4 and Thunderbolts* is helpful as Bucky is running for office in the former and working at that job in the latter.

2028:

Spider-Man: Brand New Day (July 31, 2026)

Following Dr. Stephen Strange’s spell at the end of the film “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, set in 2024 and released in 2021, the world has forgotten that Peter Parker exists. Four years later, Parker anonymously protects New York City as the hero Spider-Man and investigates a powerful new threat while his superpowers undergo a surprising and potentially dangerous evolution.

The film is notably set after “Daredevil: Born Again” Seasons 1 & 2, and “The Punisher: One Last Kill”, with Kevin Feige confirming that the film is set before “Avengers: Doomsday”.

Still to come…

Avengers: Endgame Encore (September 25, 2026)

A newly expanded version of “Avengers: Endgame” which reportedly adds a new introduction, a smattering of new elements during the film and a new credit scene setting up “Avengers: Doomsday”; the original release had no credit scenes.

VisionQuest (October 14 – ???, 2026)

Serving as the conclusion to the WandaVision trilogy, the 8-episode show follows the android White Vision as he struggles to regain his humanity and make sense of his restored memories. Vision is on the run from those seeking to weaponize him. While in hiding, his quest for a peaceful, discrete life is disrupted when a bounty is placed on his head, forcing the android to forge real connections and embrace a found family to survive.
