Earth-92131 is the multiversal reality in which the animated series “X-Men: The Animated Series” (aka “X-Men”), “Spider-Man” (aka “Spider-Man: The Animated Series”) and “X-Men ’97” take place, as well as the comic book series “X-Men ’97”, “Spider-Man ’94” and “X-Men ’97: Season Two”. The comic series “X-Men: The Manga”, faithfully adapted episodes of “X-Men: The Animated Series”, so it can safely be said to happen on Earth-92131.
Earth-92131 was first named in Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A to Z #5 as the reality designation for X-Men: The Animated Series. The Appendix to the Handbook of the Marvel Universe later folded Spider-Man into this universe.
There were also several other animated series which were initially believed to be part of this universe and featured some shared continuity, but they also featured some major contradictions as well and were later deemed to be their own shared universe (Earth-534834). These series include “Iron Man: The Animated Series” (1994 – 1996), “Fantastic Four” (1994 – 1996) & “Incredible Hulk” (1996 – 1997).
Other comic book elements intended to take place in this continuity have also since been relegated to other realties all their own. The comic series X-Men ’92 and X-Men ’92 (Vol. 2) were originally intended to feature the characters of Earth-92131 and serve as a continuation of the cartoon show. Due to the announcement of X-Men ’97, the events pertaining to the ’92 series were displaced to Earth-15730. The comic X-Men ’92: House of XCII was inspired by both X-Men: The Animated Series and House of X, but is deemed to be in its own alternate reality from this one, designated Jubilee 10. Although X-Men Adventures, X-Men Adventures (Vol. 2), X-Men Adventures (Vol. 3), and Spider-Man Adventures adapted episodes of their respective animated series, they had too many differences from the cartoons to be part of Earth-92131, and therefore were placed on Earth-TRN566 instead. A related series, Adventures of the X-Men, told new stories derived from X-Men: The Animated Series but like the above volumes it also diverged from the cartoon, so it is also placed on Earth-TRN566.

Earth-92131 is explored heavily at this point via “X-Men: The Animated Series” (aka “X-Men”), “Spider-Man: The Animated Series” (aka “Spider-Man”), “X-Men ’97” and
“X-Men: The Animated Series”, also known as “X-Men”, is an animated superhero television series, set on Earth-92131, the same reality as “Spider-Man: The Animated Series” & “X-Men ’97”. The series begins to bleed into the M.C.U. via elements in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”, “Ms. Marvel” & “What If…?” – but while I’d recommend watching the series and it’s very close to being essential viewing, it hasn’t quite reached that level in the grand scheme of things…yet.

X-Men 01 S05E09 Descent
This episode of this series, which is set on Earth-92131, takes place between the third and fourth installments of Eyes of Wakanda (on Earth-616), in 1888, serving as an origin to this universe’s Dr. Nathaniel Essex / Mr. Sinister and Jack the Ripper, along with Dr. James Xavier, the great-great-grandfather of Charles Xavier.
X-Men: The Animated series often mirrors The Multiverse Saga and eventually ties into it as well, via musical cues in several mainline entries + a vocal crossover via the animated “What If…?” series. Additionally, the X-Men and mutants will become increasingly important in the ongoing tales, but I wouldn’t call it essential viewing yet. But I could see it becoming essential as time goes on.

This season of X-Men is dominated by The Phoenix Saga (foreshadowed in S02E13 “Reunion – Part 2”), which ties into 11 episodes. The new Spider-Man series ties in with a tiny cameo by Spidey during said storyline. The X-Men go on to guest in 5 episodes of the wall-crawler’s series.
Two X-Men Season 5 episodes are included as this is the order that the episodes were produced in and this is how they were meant to be seen, which is why Jubilee is 15 in S05E05 “Longshot”, but turns 18 in X-Men ‘97, set just a year later. S05E21 also ties into the Phoenix Saga and makes no sense as originally aired.
Additionally, the season of Spider-Man: The Animated Series is presented in production order, which is very different from how it was released; later seasons of this series don’t have this problem, but this season makes a lot more sense in this order.
