Earth-17040 is a universe parallel to Earth-10005, the reality of the X-Men film series.
Timeline wise, this series (by design) is very hard to place, but most fans seem to accept that it’s likely set in the late 1970s or early 80s. There are some discrepancies with this placement, but again, these issues are deliberate. It’s important to note that this series is self-contained and set in its own universe – but it mirrors characters and situations in other projects, namely the X-Men series of films. Basically, nothing really needs to line up perfectly as the series is mainly focused on an unreliable narrator + again, it’s another universe, so there are different rules.
This series is excellent and I highly recommend viewing it.
