765874 (2022 – 2024)
“765874” is the name of a series of short concept films produced by the Roddenberry Archive and OTOY. The title comes from a single comic book panel from “Future Tense, Part Two,” (pictured above). The 13th issue of the Marvel Comics series of “Star Trek: Early Voyages” released in February 1998, reveals that the service number of J.M. Colt (a TOS character from “The Menagerie”) is 765874. The story in the issue featured the second of a four-part arc in which this Yeoman under Captain Christopher Pike aboard the Enterprise was sent into an alternate future. Since then, all subsequent OTOY Star Trek short films on The Roddenberry Archive have included Colt’s service number in their title.

187 76874 01 76874 (shortly before “The Cage” in 2254)
The first short concept video, simply titled “765874” is only 32 seconds long but features fascinating imagery in which Yeoman Colt seems to be reporting for duty just prior to the events depicted in the flashbacks in “The Menagarie” which featured Laurel Goodwin as J.M. Colt.

188 76874 02 Memory Wall (Between 2272 & 2285 – probably on the early end of that)
This short is set sometime after the events of “Star Trek: The Motion Picture” (in 2272) and before “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” (in 2285) and probably on the earlier part of that spectrum. We know this because the characters are seen in the distinctive uniforms featured in The Motion Picture which are entirely phased out by Wrath of Khan. Additionally, there are flashes of events from The Motion Picture which sees Kirk take command of the refitted Enterprise-1701 after the completion of his original 5 year mission. This version of the Enterprise is featured in new scenes here. It’s not after ‘Khan’ because the Enterprise is damaged in that film and is never repaired before being destroyed in “Star Trek III: The Search for Spock”.

189 76874 03 Regeneration (2371)
This concept film reveals some of the aftermath of Star Trek: Generations, the film in which Admiral Jame T. Kirk was killed.

190 76874 04 Unification (2371 / 2263, etc)
After his death in 2371 (“Star Trek: Generations”), Kirk seemingly travels through time and space, either on his own or via divine intervention, seeing many hard to explain things, finally reuniting with Spock at the time and place of Kirk’s best friend’s death – in the Kelvin Timeline during the events of “Star Trek: Beyond”. This wordless tone poem of an entry is fascinating. I wept when I watched it and it was very well reviewed upon its release.

During “Unification”, this mysterious alien seems to guide Kirk from the Prime Universe, to be with Spock, in the Kelvin Universe, but he also has to travel back in time. Who is this alien that we’ve never seen before who passes through time and universes?
Time will tell.
